Your support in staying at chosen conference hotels helps keep conference costs down, which directly affects your registration fees. Sandia National Laboratory guarantees the hotel that we will fill a certain number of room nights or rooms per night during the conference. Sandia incurs penalties if too many attendees opt to stay in other hotels in the area or neglect to indicate to the hotel that they are with the IMR conference. Future registration fees could increase to cover these additional risks.

Albuquerque the largest New Mexico city and is a key tourist destination in the southwestern United States. Home of the International Balloon Fiesta, which attracts thousands of enthusists from around the world annually. The 2018 Balloon Fiesta will be helo October 6 - 14.
Albuquerque's downtown area offers a variety of museums and cultural centers, the Albuquerque Zoo, Botanical Garden and Aquarium, along with Albuquerque's Old Town. Old Town was founded and settled as a Spanish Colony in the early 1700's, and is a very popular historical area of the city. Here tourists can visit the historic San Felipe de Neri Church, rose garden or walk through the many shops, galleries and studios. Close by is the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center providing tribal history for the area's Native American tribes.
Other things to do include hiking, mountain biking, opportunities to sample the unique cuisine of New Mexico, visit some of the many local breweries and wineries, take a hot air balloon ride, or take a ride on the Sandia Peak Tram to the top of Sandia Mountains where you can overlook the city and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding areas.
