Abstract
A generic approach for interfacing surface meshes to CAD models is described. By introducing a set of service functions requirements, coupling of mesh generators, dynamic mesh adaptation, and geometry based fluid-structure simulations are supported. The abstract software design of this interface enables for coupling the associated methods to any geometry engine that supports the required services. An advanced engineering data management system allows for maintaining the associative information between the geometry patches of the CAD system and the mesh points.
