Title: IMR GridPro Tutorial
Instructor: Peter Eiseman
GridPro is a topology based multi-block grid generation package. The user supplies the topology which is a pattern of points that is expressed as an unstructured wireframe roughly overlaying the region of interest. The pattern is typically given with the help of a GUI along with a number of automated actions to make it easy to supply. One the pattern is in place, the grid generator is automatic: it is a batch job. The GUI is further used to do a number of utilitarian tasks such as give boundary conditions, deal with the region defining geometry, and inspect the results of the grid generation. Our overall objective is to introduce the user to GridPro in a way that the user gets a good start from which to grow in expertise.
In the time frame of a brief tutorial, there will only be enough time to give the basics. Thus, we will first give a a conceptual overview without the details of the GUI and then we will go through some illustrative examples that use a core part of the GUI. These examples will progress from the extremely simple up to some modest complexity. As these are demonstrated, we will have the participants do them on their workstations. Time permitting, we will progress to cases with even more complexity. The timing of all of this will depend upon the class and how fast they are in acquiring the knowledge.GridPro by Program Development Company User Tutorial Schedule
